Britain’s oldest rescue dogs is looking for a retirement home — at the ripe-old-age of nineteen.
Jack Russell terrier Tassie has reached the incredible age of 135 in dog years but is said to still be young at heart.
She is the oldest resident of animal welfare charity Dog’s Trust Scotland and currently stays in a foster home along with her 13-year-old daughter Cara.
Carers put their long life down to regular exercise and a healthy diet which has helped to keep them youthful.
Both dogs are currently staying with a foster carer on Dogs Trust’s Home From Home Foster scheme.
They are enjoying life with a foster family while waiting on a new owner to come forward and rehome them permanently.
Sandra Lawton, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Glasgow, said they were looking for a suitable retirement home for the pair.
She said: “Tassie and Cara are gorgeous girls who may have a few extra grey hairs but like most humans, they are still young at heart.
“We are looking for a suitable retirement home for them both with a loving family who have lots of space in their home and heart.
“Their collective age is impressive, especially as they are related.
“We like to think the secret to maintaining their youth is a mix of regular exercise, a healthy diet but not being afraid to treat yourself once in a while, lots of water and never forgetting to find enjoyment in the small things.”
