This adorable kitty leaves a present for his family in the same spot every morning.

Cute photos show Charlie the two year old tabby posing proudly with his finds, which range from pen lids and drill bits to hair ties and SHOES.

The playful moggy – which has learning difficulties – has kept up the routine since being rescued from a barn by scientist Beth Tivol, 53 in 2015.

At first Charlie would leave his toys at the top of the basement stairs, ready for Beth and her husband David, 56, to discover when they woke up.

But when the family took no notice, Charlie ramped his present-giving up a gear and bizarre household objects began to appear in the same spot.

After a few weeks, they realized he was rummaging around in the house at night and leaving the ‘gifts’ there on purpose.

Beth says her goofy pet’s hilarious habit cheers her up in the morning and makes every day feel like a mini Christmas.

The mom-of-two said: “I have had cats before but they have never done anything like this.

“We wake up and are like, ‘Ooh, did he leave something today?’ It is exciting.

“I might have a big meeting that day but I always wonder if he left something, and family and friends will ask.

“It really does make the day start much better. I never thought a cat would do something like that.

“It’s like a mini Christmas morning every day.”

Charlie was a barn kitten who was born on a small farm that Beth’s family owns in Kentucky.

She and husband David, 56, a professor of biochemistry, and their teenage son and daughter adopted him when he was 12 weeks old in August 2015.

Beth said: “Charlie is an unusual little guy. He is not very bright – we joke that he has fluff for brains. He is like a kitten in a grown cat’s body.

“But he is very playful and if he wants to play he will bring us his toy and show it to us.

“In the beginning he used to leave his toys in this spot at the top of the basement steps.

“I would come down from upstairs every morning and go into the kitchen and find them.

“After a while – maybe a month or two – other things started ending up there.

“One day he found a bag of yarn and left a ball of yarn there. Another day he bought us drill bits and another time it was a McDonald’s straw wrapper.

“It seemed so random but then about a month ago we realized he was doing it every single day.

“Once in a while, if he found something he thought was really cool, he would sit there and wait for us, so we knew it was on purpose.

“It’s always overnight. He must be rummaging around to try and find these presents for us before we wake up.

“I think it’s how he shows us he loves us.”
