These delightful pictures show Chuck the bear enjoying the last rays of summer sunshine at the weekend – by chilling out in his own hammock.
The seven-year-old North American black bear climbed into his swinging bed, leaned back and closed his eyes in a state of complete relaxation.
Chuck lives at Woburn Safari Park in Woburn, Bedford, and has access to a 13 acre reserve, which is shared with five other bears and Canadian Timber wolves.
It is one of the only mixed carnivore enclosures in the UK.
Woburn has a total of six bears, three females and three males, and all bears live outside 365 days a year.
They will hibernate through the cold months of winter.
Black bears are North America’s most familiar and common bear, and typically live in forests.
Despite their name, black bears can be blue-grey or blue-black, brown, cinnamon or even (very rarely) white.
