An angler was left aghast after he inspected the insides of an 8lb pike he had caught – and discovered it had swallowed a RAT.
Stunned Adam Mitchell, 43, landed the pike while out fishing in Glastonbury Tor, Somerset.
But while Adam was unhooking the fish he noticed a rat’s foot poking out of its mouth.
“The fish was 8lb in weight so quite small for a pike,” said Adam.
“It hadn’t even finished swallowing its last meal when it took my lure.
“Although I’ve heard about pike taking birds and rodents, in 30 years of fishing I’ve never seen it.
