Expert staff at St Anne’s Vets, in Eastbourne, have told how three-year-old Thor’s life was hanging by a thread when he was first admitted and said they have never witnessed such a death-defying recovery. Thor, who had been missing for two months and weighed just 2.4kg, spent 10 days in intensive care followed by seven months of ongoing care, treatment and support by the Linnaeus-owned Sussex vets. St Anne’s clinical director Simon Devile explained: “Builders found Thor trapped under floorboards in a house near to where his owners lived and rushed him straight to us. “He was completely collapsed, so cold to the touch, his mucus membranes were extremely pale and his capillary refill time was over three seconds, which is very bad. “His pupils were dilated and not reactive to light, his heart rate was only 10bpm while his blood pressure and temperature were too low to register. “We were all shocked and honestly didn’t know how he was still alive. I’ve never seen a patient with a heart rate of just 10bpm – certainly not one that has gone on to survive.”
