Pablo the seal couldn’t hold back his snores as he snoozed at Bristol Zoo Gardens.
The South American fur seal struggled to keep his eyes open while lazing about in the afternoon sunshine.
Eight-year-old Pablo lay sprawled on his back next to gently-flowing water before his enormous mouth fell open and he began to snore.
Normally found on the coasts of Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and the Falkland Islands, he is one of only five fur seals at Bristol Zoo.
Hunted for their warm coats, their numbers have suffered.
Bristol Zoo is involved with more than 100 co-ordinated breeding programmes for threatened wildlife species.
Senior presenter at the zoo Mikolaj Zybala said: “Seals often make snoring noises just like we do – but they do it when they are awake as well.”
