Meet the adorable pooch who has taken Instagram by storm – and poses in adverts for big brands including Disney.
Marley the four-year-old Cockapoo has become a sensation after owner Katie Ramsden, 26, set her up an Instagram account – and has over 50,000 followers.
Marley regularly models for big names such as Mazda, Barbour, Zoopla,, Primark and Disney, and has attended movie premieres in London after her posts attracted the attention of producers.
Owner Katie prides herself on giving fluff ball Marley a normal life amongst her fame – decided not to overspend on expensive dog products and treats for her – instead opting for the regular food and clothing that supermarkets offer.
Marley, who herself cost £2395, has been hounded with free gifts from brands keen to get a feature on her Instagram feed, something she adores according to Katie.
Katie said: “She loves the attention! And she’s a natural in front of the camera.
“I’m a photographer by trade so setting Marley up an Instagram was a natural next step as soon as I got her.
“We got her in April 2016, and by May 2016 she’d won a competition of the ‘cutest dog’ out of 20 others – so we knew she was a popular pooch from them on.
“She was approached through her Instagram feed in 2017, and the business opportunities flew in from then onwards.
“It started as a hobby, but as dogs became more and more popular over the internet, so did Marley.
“We really do have to make sure she looks her best at all times as we just never know who we’re going to meet from day to day.”
Katie, an influencer from Liverpool who manages Marley’s Instagram and is also a rock climbing instructor, first brought Marley home in April 2016, her first dog as an adult.
The cockapoo melted her heart instantly, and she couldn’t help but set her up her own social media page, to keep her friends and family in the loop to watch Marley grow up.
Affectionately titled @cockapoomarley, the page rapidly picked up a vast following, consisting of strangers alongside Katie’s close network.
She posed Marley up in silly outfits such as swimming goggles and arm bands, which gained so much popularity that by October 2016 the picture had made the cover of the magazine ‘I Love Dogs’.
Katie said: “I’d been dying to get a dog after having two border terriers whom I loved to bits when I was growing up. In fact, I’ve always been barking mad about dogs.
“When I was younger I even used to carry around a dog encyclopedia. If I saw a dog in the street, I’d stop the owner and try to guess what breed their pooch was.
“So when I first met Marley as a tiny pup, it was love at first sight.
“Within weeks I’d brought her home and because she’s so adorable, I couldn’t help sharing photos of her online. Soon I was enjoying taking snaps of her so much I created a special Instagram account just for her.”
Within a year of setting up the account, Marley had 4,000 followers.
“People love her brown eyes and the captions she puts under her posts.
“It quickly changed from just a hobby into a full time job. Before we knew it, Marley had been signed up to a modelling agency called Urban Paws.
“Through then, she has done photoshoots for big brands such as Ford, Barbour and Daniel Wellington.
“Her favourite outfit is a yellow raincoat! We have a matching set so the pair of us go on our daily walks matching on a rainy day.”
Marley and Katie often get invited to events in London, and in 2019 they had the amazing opportunity to go to a Disney premiere for the film Patrick about a pug.
Katie said: “Marley loved every second of it!
“She was recognised as she walked down the carpet, and even though there was a lot going on she took it all in her stride.”
Marley’s most notable modelling roles have included Zoopla, Spotify, Disney and many others – with plenty more secret gigs planned for later in the year too.
“She just loves everything about her fame and lifestyle. She has the loveliest temperament, and is no longer an only child.”
She has a new little sister, one-year-old Mabel, a cockapoo just like Marley.
The pair of them instantly clicked and are both naturals in front of the lens.
“Even though they get some nice freebies and sponsorships, they certainly aren’t spoiled pups. They like a good cuddle and a long walk more than any product!”
