Golfers approaching the sixth green faced an unusual delay in play – after a baby SEAL got stuck on the course.
The pup had somehow found its way onto the course, having navigated its way around several deep bunkers.
It had rolled onto its back and become stuck in a hollow adjacent to the sixth green.
Green keepers at the West Cornwall Golf Club in Lelant, Cornwall, made the unusual discovery on Sunday morning.
They called the Maritime Animal Response Team who arrived on the scene and advised the pup was approximately five weeks old and in good health despite its ordeal.
It was then released back into the sea.
A spokesman said: “With expert and careful handling the pup was transported back to the beach and gently released back into its natural environment.
“An unusual circumstance and one that we thought might be of interest to members – we even took a picture of the intrepid little chap prior to his happy release.”
