A swim team was forced to cancel their training session after discovering a wild alligator at the bottom of their pool.
When the team went to jump in the water at Montverde Academy in Florida they were shocked to find the 3-foot gator relaxing in the deep end.
Deputy Brownsberger and Deputy Faust from Lake County Sherriff’s Office were first on the scene to safely deal with the reptile.
The pair were able to use a safety hook to remove the alligator from the water and put tape around its mouth, before taking it to nearby Lake Apopka to be released.
A spokesperson from Lake County Sherriff’s Office said: “Deputy Faust and Deputy Brownsberger responded to reports of a 3-foot gator at Montverde Academy.
“Together they used a safety hook to bring it to the edge where they were then able to reach down and grab the gator.
“Its mouth was secured with electric tape and it was temporarily detained so they could safely transport it to Lake Apopka – where it was then released.
“No deputies or gators were hurt during the encounter.”
