This abandoned kitten has a new mother – a doting macaque monkey.
The kind primate apparently found the kitten lying in a road and scooped it under its arm.
Locals claim the monkey now takes the baby cat everywhere it goes and a video shows it leaping onto a foot stall counter carrying the kitten.
It doesn’t seem fazed by the stall owners in Gandhi Chowk in Kalyan in Maharashtra, India, who watch as it helps itself to fritters and sweets while cradling the kitten.
One onlooker said: “People in Kalyan have grown fond of the motherly monkey that is taking care of the kitten like a mother.”
