A man who rescued an injured baby squirrel seven years ago has been BFFs with the fluffy rodent ever since.
Decan Frost, 42, found the tiny rodent, named Tintin, on the floor beneath a tree in 2014, and at first presumed it was dead.
But he miraculously survived and is now part of the family and even gets along with the two pet cats.
Decan, from Copenhagen, Denmark, who is unemployed due to disability, said: “He must have fallen out of the tree and hit a branch on the way down.
“His injuries were really bad. The vet was able to clean the wound, but was unable to patch up his chest.
“They sent him back with me and said he didn’t have much chance for survival but I still tried anyway.
“I cleaned the cut constantly and made makeshift bandages out of my son’s old socks to prevent the wound from being scratched open.
“Fortunately, he finally healed. When it was time to release him back into the wild – he kept returning back home.
“Years went on and no matter how hard I tried, Tintin always ran straight back to our door.”
Seven years later Tintin still continues to spend his days with his new family.
Decan added: “I ended up building him a catio and now he just plays there and in my garden.”
Tintin became a part of the family and even gets along with the house cats, Miss Marble and Tiger.
“He’s like my child now,” Decan said.
