A baking-mad bride stunned guests when she unveiled two wedding cakes – in the shape of herself and her groom.
Lara Mason, 29, spent three days baking and icing the life-size cakes in time for her wedding to Nikki Mason, 27.
The couple tied the knot in Malta on October 17 but unveiled the giant cakes as they held a family party in Great Wyrley, Staffs., on Saturday 14 November.
The delicious doubles, which are entirely edible, were made from 20kg (44lb) of icing and 20kg of chocolate cake.
Lara’s cake doppelganger shows her wearing a white wedding dress, complete with veil and holding a cocktail glass.
But the talented baker gave her new husband a ‘marriage survival kit’ hat with two cans of beer and straws leading to his mouth.
Lara, who works in customer services for Tombola Bingo, says she managed to make the life-size cakes in just three days.
She added: “We both like a laugh and thought it would be great to create a cake which would give our guests a good laugh.
“I created myself as the happy bride on our wedding day with Nikki drinking cans of lager from a ‘marriage survival kit’ as a way of coping with getting married to me.
“It took me around 20 hours to create where usually I would spend about 150 hours on a cake of that size so it was a little rushed.”
“After having the competition and making Prince George the week before I only had three days to make this one.
“Everyone loved it though, my hubby was especially proud that I got it done in the short time scale.”
Lara met Nikki at Sunderland University nine years ago during Freshers Week and love blossomed over a drinking game.
The cakes were shared between the 200 guests at their wedding reception at Great Wyrley Football Club.
Lara, who runs runs Tasty Cakes in Walsall, West Mids., added: “We never ended up eating the cake on the night as people were too busy taking pics of it.
“So I actually left the cake at the club for the players there to cut up and enjoy.
“I have made loads of life-size cakes before with Prince George and Jennifer Lawrence being my most recognised.
“Everyone loved the cake. It was quirky and original, just like us really.”
Lara recently picked up a Gold Award at the Cake International Show in Birmingham for her 3ft-high cake creation of Prince George.
She first picked up the same prize in 2013 for her 5ft 5in replica of Captain Jack Sparrow from Disney blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean.
And last years she won the award for her 5ft 11in Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games trilogy which actress Jennifer Lawrence described as “amazing”.
Lara has previously created a miniature Duchess of Cambridge, a bust of Harry Potter, an edible Land Rover and a Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones.
She is now considering making life-size cakes of David Beckham and Hollywood actor Channing Tatum after being inundated with requests to make them.
