These amazing pictures show how a posh hotel was turned into “the depths of Hell” and filled with scary props for a couple’s horror-themed wedding.

Giuliana and Paul Hornby have always been a fan of horror-flicks and spine-chilling tales so they decided it was only fitting that their big day had a macabre touch.

Their wedding venue, the Clifton Arms, was decorated with smoking witches cauldrons, blood-splattered props and life-sized skeleton props of the happy couple.

Giuliana, 28, said goodbye to life as a single woman when she walked down the aisle to the theme of Steven Spielberg’s smash hit horror film Poltergeist.

And at the reception, guests, who were dressed as scary characters like Frankenstein and Count Dracula, were even served delicacies like “cut-throat curry” and “Choking Chilli”.

Speaking from Florida where the pair are enjoying their honeymoon, Paul, 34, said: “Both Giuliana and I have been avid horror fans for many years and it seemed fitting to have a horror-style wedding. Our guests loved dressing up as horror characters and the day was so much fun.”

Paul, who is a driving instructor, added that the hotel was transformed from one of the poshest hotels in Flyde, Lancs., into the depths of Hell.

Guests joined in the gruesome fun by dressing as their favourite scary story characters.

The wedding cake was even horror-themed as it included figures of zombie versions of guests climbing up it.

Fighting off the army of undead at the top of the cake were figures of Paul and Giuliana wielding chainsaws.

At the wedding reception Paul and Giuliana, who works as a primary school teacher in Blackpool, had a frightfully good time dancing to music from their favourite horror flicks.

Guests were even handed syringes filled with flavoured dye which looked like blood asked to squirt it into their glasses of champagne.

Paul wore a traditional morning suit, while Giuliana opted for a black lacy dress with a golden sash.

Giuliana said she said the day was perfect and it is one she will always remember.

She said: “I think it is all the little touches that made the day so effective.

“We both love horror and we just came up with the idea for the wedding naturally. It is just something that is a bit different and I wanted to have a huge celebration.”

The couple who are both from St Annes, Lancs., run a website called Terror Attractions which reviews the top scare attractions across the UK.

And the pair even got engaged one of the attractions.

As Giuliana was reviewing a scare attraction called Scare Kingdom Scream Park, in Lancs., one of the actors who was dressed as zombie placed a hood over her head.

And when the zombie pulled the hood off, Giuliana was confronted with Paul getting on one knee and proposing and she promptly accepted.

Paul said: “She was quite scared at first but she was really happy when she saw that I was proposing.”
