A group of fun-loving OAPs in a retirement village have dressed up as their pop idols for a fancy dress calendar.
Staff and residents at Shenley Wood Village transformed themselves into the likes of Queen, Wham, Elvis Presley, Spice Girls and Abba to create their own 2016 calendar.
Trisha Sweeney, 63, dressed up as a zombie for Michael Jackson’s Thriller on the day.
She said: “It was great fun to get dressed up and just shows when you reach a certain age you stay that age mentally. “It is only outside that gets old, old people are quite fun too.”
Activities facilitator Leigh West, 32, said: “We wanted this calendar to have a raw, edgy feel to the last one of 2015.
“The buzz in the village was amazing, with members of the band Kiss drinking tea and eating cake in the café and Michael Jackson serving customers in the village shop.”
“Even though I know how vibrant our residents are, I was still taken aback by their willingness to go all out and their individual dedication to the project.”
During the one-day photo shoot at the Milton Keynes based retirement village for the over 55s, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga answered calls on reception while zombies danced to Thriller in the village piazza.
Ms West said: “Apart from having the best time ever in the retirement village, and generating support from our community through calendar sales, I hope that the calendar promotes the idea that regardless of somebody’s age, there is always space for individuality, self expression and fun.”
Last year residents at The ExtraCare Charitable Trust’s retirement village dressed up to make a similar calendar paying homage to The Golden Age of Cinema.
The calendar costs £14.99. They will be available to purchase later this week from www.mrcphoto.co.uk
