There was no chance of missing this bride arriving on her big day!

Robyn Sheehan and Richard Sheehan with their wedding carriage - a giant crane. See SWNS story SWWED; A bride and groom shunned traditional wedding modes of transport in favour of a whopping 40 ton ribbon-bedecked crane. After tying the knot at Old Forde House, Richard Sheehan and Robyn Harrison climbed into the cab of the crane and headed to their reception at the Old Rydon Inn. Polished to perfection and wrapped in a pretty ribbon with a 'just married' sign on the back for the big occasion, the crane and the couple caused quite a stir among shoppers as they made their way to Kingsteignton. Richard's brother's Christopher and David came up with the idea as the crane belongs to their dad's Newton Abbot-based business, Devon Lifting Services.

A couple had an uplifting wedding day after arriving at the reception – in a 40-tonne CRANE.

Richard Sheehan, 29, and Robyn Harrison, 26, ditched the traditional wedding car in favour of the bright red industrial vehicle.

The crane in all it’s glory

They used the vehicle to travel between their ceremony at Old Forde House in Newton Abbot, Devon, to the reception at the Old Rydon Inn in Kingsteignton.

It was provided by Richard’s father, Brian Sheehan, who runs Devon Lifting Services with his three sons Richard, Christopher, 31, and David, 27.

Brian, 67, said: “The registrar was quite surprised to see it outside the wedding room, she said it was a first.

“There were loads of people taking photos of it because they hadn’t seen anything like it before.

“Richard and Robyn were beaming.

“Everyone at the Rydon came out into the garden when they arrived, to have a look at it. It was a bit of a display.”
