This is the unbelievable moment a naked man appears to SUNBATHE on the top of the London’s Tower Bridge.
Crowds gathered on the side of the River Thames as the sun worshipper stripped off and made himself comfortable on the blue arches.
Police were forced to close the world-famous landmark after the man climbed near to the top of the 213-ft high bridge at around 2pm on Saturday.
Matthew Young, 25, managed to record the bizarre moment and can be heard in the footage saying : “Right so all these people have stopped and stared, we have the great Tower of Bridge of London that has gone to a standstill and there is nothing on it.
“It has been closed off either end because of this man who has decided to sunbathe on the top of the blue arch.
“He is sunbathing and loving life right now and it’s completely closed off.
“We have got police down here, who have cornered everything off, no one can get by, because of that man up there.
“I mean he is really loving life.”
Another person can be heard saying: “What do you think he’s doing up there?”
The man stayed on the bridge for more than an hour, before jumping into the river below.
Police confirmed he was recovered by a lifeboat “breathing and conscious” and he suffered only a minor injury.
City of London police tweeted at the time: “Tower Bridge is currently closed while we deal with an incident.
“Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.”
Several bus routes which use the bridge to cross the River Thames are on diverison.
TfL Bus Alerts tweeted at the time: “Routes 42, 78 and RV1 are diverted in both directions following Tower Bridge, EC3 closure due to a Police incident.”
Witnesses at the scene have taken to Twitter to describe how the person has climbed onto the top of the bridge.
One person said: “Man is on top of the Bridge. Loads of police and ambulances on the scene.”
A City of London police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 13:56 on Saturday 01 June 2019 to reports of a man who had climbed the blue bridge support of Tower Bridge.
“An hour or so later he jumped into the water and was retrieved by the Marine Support Unit.
“He was conscious and breathing when he was recovered and only suffered a minor injury.
“It was mental health related (as opposed to him being a protester or something for example). The man was not arrested.”
