A young woman is splashed with cash after setting up business – as a professional MERMAID.
Pretty Grace Page is well on her way to earning a flipping fortune this year if her £100-an-hour operation takes off – as a ‘real’ half-fish, half-woman.
The 23-year-old, who has dreamed of being half-fish since she was a child, even made her own FLIPPERS, and taught herself to swim by watching hours of footage of dolphins.
Grace, whose favourite film is The Little Mermaid, reckons she’s on to a winner with her business, Hire A Mermaid UK, because she’s already swamped with business.
The beautiful self-styled sea creature, who lives with her granddad in Reading, Berks., said: “I’ve always loved mermaids and Ariel has always been my favourite Disney princess.
“I used to ask my mum if I could have a tail and she said no because I would drown.
“But I taught myself to swim using homemade flippers.
“I love dolphins too, so I mimic them.”
The professional mermaid already has a company making personalised video messages dressed as Disney princesses and makes all of her own costumes.
Until recently she was struggling to find suitable locations to practice her trade, and has set up an agreement with her local gym.
She said: “You strap both of your feet into the monofin and it holds your legs together and you have to roll your body in a belly dancer motion and then flick your legs – like the worm.
“I’m not very good at swimming like a person, but I’m very graceful as a mermaid.”
Grace says that business is going swimmingly and she has been swamped jobs – including a woman’s 50th birthday party
She said: “She decorated her whole house as under the sea and I sat in the clam seat and had to sing Happy Birthday to her.
“I’ve just ordered a silicone, handmade tail from America, so hopefully I’ll be able to swim even more gracefully – and it’s green so it’ll look totally realistic.”
However, despite having a clamshell bikini, Grace refuses to dye her blonde locks red, to complete her transformation into Ariel.
She added: “I’m a real-life Disney princess.”
