A real-life vampire who used a razor blade to slash a friend’s arm before drinking his BLOOD from a glass has been jailed for more than six years.
Sadistic Thomas Gough, 20, invited pal Matthew Whitehurst to his room to drink vodka on July 8 this year.
A court heard he first tried to cut the 34-year-old victim’s arm with a knife as he “mumbled” about vampires.
Shockingly, Gough also grabbed a razor blade and slashed Mr Whitehurst, leaving a gaping wound in his forearm.
The twisted ‘vampire’ then caught the blood in a glass before downing it – telling his terrified victim he “needed blood to survive”.
A court heard Mr Whitehurst needed 10 stitches to close an 8cm gash to his arm and has now been left with a 2.5cm scar.
Gough, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was sentenced to six years and eight months in a Young Offenders’ Institution with a four-year extended licence period at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday 4 December.
Jailing him, Judge Paul Glenn said: “The facts of this case are frankly somewhat bizarre.
“You were acting out a fantasy.
“The girl who seems to be in a relationship with you described how you became aggressive, initially trying to slash his arm with a knife and then using a razor blade.
“Having cut open his arm she described how you drank his blood. It was horrible and she felt traumatised. You had been talking of needing blood to survive and of vampires.
“Days earlier you sent a text to her expressing how you were going to stab the victim.
“Mr Whitehurst is still very nervous. He has an awful scar across his forearm.
“You fit the criteria of a dangerous offender.”
The court heard Gough was with his girlfriend and Mr Whitehurst in his room at the supported housing complex they shared in Cheadle, Staffs., when he launched the bizarre attack.
Prosecutor Joanne Wallbanks said he was immediately sick after downing the blood and asked his victim “what medication are you on?”

She added: “The defendant started to play with a knife. Mr Whitehurst asked him to put it away and the defendant tried to cut his victim’s arm but it did not cut.
“He was talking of vampires and saying he needed blood to survive.
“He put the knife down, took a blade out of a razor, and slashed Mr Whitehurst’s arm with it. He stuck the knife into the wall.
“He caught some of the blood in a glass and drank some. He put a sock on Mr Whitehurst’s arm to stem the blood.”
When he was arrested, bipolar Gough talked about the devil and the antichrist and was talking to a ‘voice’ in front of him.
Police also found the knife embedded in the wall and a glass with congealed blood inside.
Catherine O’Reilly, defending, said: “He bitterly regrets what he has done.
“He has managed to sort himself out to a significant degree.”
