This is the shocking moment a hit and run driver ploughs into a scooter rider crossing a zebra crossing.
The 22-year-old man was rushed to hospital after he was left twitching in agony on the floor as the Ford Focus driver shamelessly reverses away.
CCTV footage shows him smashing into the windscreen and being carried a few metres before the light green car stops at lunchtime on Saturday.
The hit and run victim is thrown off the bonnet and lands in a heap on the floor as the vehicle stops suddenly.
The victim is seen wearing large earphones as he pauses at the crossing and checks for traffic on both sides of the road.
Police released the CCTV footage taken in Clacton, Essex, which shows the horrific moment the driver makes no attempt to slow down as he mows the rider down.
The driver then flees the scene by rapidly reversing down the road in a shopping area and disappearing down a side street.
A police spokesman said: “Essex Police are appealing for witnesses after CCTV footage captured a man being knocked over in a shocking hit-and-run in Clacton.
“The 22-year-old victim was walking across a zebra crossing on Old Road when he was hit by the vehicle at around 1.15pm on Saturday, September 2.
“After hitting the victim, the car, which has been described as a light green Ford Focus, reversed away and drove off down St Andrews Road.”
The man was taken to Colchester Hospital with minor injuries.
