A sexual predator has been jailed after he crept into the homes of women while they slept – one waking up to find him inches from her face.
Wayne Buxton, 26, broke into his victim’s homes after checking for open doors in July last year.
He entered the house of his first victim on July 18, where the woman had fallen asleep on the sofa.
She woke up to find Buxton just six inches away from her face before he ran off, a court heard.
A week later Buxton entered another woman’s house where he touched her buttock and thigh while she was sleeping in bed before he ran off.
Derby Crown Court heard that police had come across Buxton in a pub car park in the early hours of the morning after the attack on the first victim’s home in Clay Cross, near Chesterfield, Derbys.
When officers searched Buxton’s address they found a hoodie in the back of a cupboard that matched the description given to police by the first victim.

They then found Buxton had been searching for porn on his laptop that matched the description of the second victim.
After checking his mobile phone records police also found that they matched his movements the night of the second attack.
Buxton’s first victim managed to pick him out in a police identity parade.
He was found guilty of two counts of trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence and to one count of sexual assault following a trial in January.
He also admitted three counts of making indecent photos involving images of children on his laptop between December 2007 and July 2015.
Buxton had also been accused of sexually assaulting an 84-year-old woman after entering her house, but the jury found him not guilty on these two counts.
He has been jailed for eight years.
William Bennett, defending, said: “This is someone who is a deeply flawed and vulnerable young man who suffers with depression and has been suicidal.”
Jailing Buxton, who has a previous conviction for sexual assault, Judge John Burgess said: “Just reading about the facts would give anyone real concern that you were a dangerous offender.
“These offences were committed in women’s homes in the early hours when people are expected to be asleep.
“In one case the woman woke and you came up with a false excuse and in the other case you sexually assaulted the woman by running your finger between her buttock and knee.”
