Women’s Institute members have honed their skills into knitting trauma teddies – for children involved in distressing police incidents.
The cuddly toys were knitted to comfort young people who may not understand what is happening in stressful moments.
Teddies of all colours and shapes were made and presented to Essex Police by Shenfield and Hutton WI.

Chief Inspector Leigh Norris said: “Irrespective of age, being involved in a situation that requires police attendance can be a stressful experience, but it can be particularly upsetting for young children who may not understand what is happening.
“A simple thing like a cuddly toy can help comfort and reassure children in times of distress.”
