A pair of identical twin sisters were stunned when they picked up their GCSE results – and realised they were exactly the SAME.
Ellena and Georgina Smith, 16, stunned their teachers after both achieving six A*s, five As and one B each yesterday (Thur).
The pair were so competitive they couldn’t even study in the same room as their exams drew closer and even played tricks to distract each other from working.

But the girls, who go to Paulet High School in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffs., said they were “relieved” at the draw.
Georgina said: “I was so happy with the results, but I guess I wasn’t that surprised.
“I’m just really pleased it’s a draw, because it’s not a very nice atmosphere in the house when one of us does better.
“I think having a twin sister really pushes you to work harder, because if I want to stop revising and she’s still going I think ‘Maybe I should try a bit harder’.
“We play tricks on each other as well, we try and sabotage each other’s marks.
“Like we’ll get each other a really good fiction book, and when they start reading it the other one will run off and revise.
“I’m not too sure what I want to do, but I love languages so I’m thinking maybe when I’m older I’ll be a translator.”

Ellena added: “I’m just so relieved we got the same, because when I got a better grade than Georgina last year it was quite a bad atmosphere.
“We worked really hard and at the start we studied together, but as the exams got closer we had to study alone.
“We would just distract each other, so we would work for the same amount of time but just in different rooms.
“I’m more sciency than Georgina, but she’s better at languages, so we are quite different. It’s just how we’ve always been.
“I find eyes really interesting, so I think I’d like to be an optician after university. I definitely want to do something with science.”
The identical twins, who live with dad Ian and full-time mum Rachel, both 50, in Burton-upon-Trent, got eight results that were exactly the same out of their 12 GCSEs.

Georgina got A*s in French and English Language where Ellena got As, but Ellena went one better in Further Additional Science and Religious Studies, netting A*s in both.
Proud dad Ian, who works as an engineer, said: “When the news came in I was beaming with pride at their results.
“I think it’s good they did the same as well, because it’s hard going up against an exact copy of yourself.
“If one does less well than the other then they ask really hard questions of themselves.
“We’ve been lucky though because their grades always seem to ebb and flow. If one gets an A* in one thing, the other will get an A* another to counter it.
“It’s great to see their hard work rewarded. I’ve always said if they want to get the grades they have to do it themselves, and they decided to go for it.”
