These amazing photos which show toddlers having a food fight – destroying and devouring their birthday cakes.
Cake smash photo shoots are a trend that started in the US and has now been picked up by UK photographer Samantha Jade who loves the messy pictures.
They involve babies crushing a cake – all to create lively images.
The short-lived fun leaves the tots covered in the sweet treat, usually shaped like a giant cupcake, which have often been professionally made.
“My cake smashes are really popular,” said pregnant mum-of-one Samantha, who runs Samantha Jade photography in Hull, East Yorks.
“I did my first shoot three years ago after a friend spotted a cake smash on the internet and it has snowballed since then.
“They just make really fun memories. Most kids, they are just absolutely covered head to toe.”
Samantha also works with a baker and offers the cake service too.
She said most of the time, the cake smash is popular for parents celebrating their child’s first birthday.
“Instead of spending hundreds of pounds on a birthday party they won’t remember, having a cake smash, they will have the photos of it,” she said.
“It’s a precious memory and my favourite type of photo shoot. They are so cute to do and create such lovely pictures.”
Samantha Jade’s cake smashes cost a bargain £90 and includes the cake, two prints and 20 digitals.
