Parents dropping off their kids for their first day of school were left in floods of tears after receiving a heartfelt note from teachers.
To ease the emotional goodbye teachers handed parents and a small envelope containing a tissue, tea bag and a small chocolate.
Each was handed an envelope with a poem that read:
The day is finally here and now you are alone,
Sit down to have a brew and think of how they’ve grown!
The tissue is for to have a little cry,
And now they are at school, remember times gone by.
As you eat your treat your worries can be gone,
We already love your precious little one!
Kingsholm Primary School, in Gloucester, welcomed its new cohort through the doors with anxious mums and dads waving farewell to their little ones.
One mum to receive one said: “This is so cute from Kingsholm Primary.
“Most of the mums are now in tears.”
Head of early years Lucy Newton said: “We’ve been doing it for the past few years.
“Sending your four-year-old off to primary school is a big thing for a parent and quite a big change.
“We just wanted to mark it with something nice.
“There were tears but they were happy tears!”
