A mum has found a way to help rescued dogs find adoptive owners – by sewing them special designer COATS.
Beverley Smith, 56, realised that her local dog rescue charity had no way of showing people their pets were up for adoption when they were being walked in the park, so came up with the idea of turning them into canine billboards.

The animals now wear colourful embroidered coats to show passers-by that the dogs could be theirs, thanks to teacher Beverley.

She adopted her dog, Phoebe, from the Guardian Angels Dog Rescue centre in Thanet, Kent, and now does whatever she can to get more of the animals rehomed.

Beverley, who teaches English as a second language, said: “The dogs are out being walked but there is no way of knowing that they are fostered and up for adoption.

“So I came up with an idea of dog coats that they were up for adoption.

“I went to get embroidered labels at the haberdashery shop and somebody volunteered to do the coats for me.
Beverley, from Thanet, added: “The idea is also to raise awareness of the rescue.

“The coats are a fantastic way to advertise the dogs.”
Guardian Angels Dog Rescue, run by Ros Bane and Christine Recton, ensure that every dog is neutered and vaccinated before they are rehomed.
Ros said: “We were only doing one dog at a time but with so many people getting rid of their dogs we endeavoured to get them in foster homes.

“We fundraise our vets bills, kennel fees and dog food. We have three dogs in kennels boarded but the rest are in foster homes.
“We also rescue dogs from other countries mainly Romania but we did rescue one from Spain.”
