A pug mad autistic lad’s dreams came true when birthday wellwishers showered him with gifts and cards featuring his favourite canine.
Nine-year-old Cody Lacey was “over the moon” when dozens of strangers sent him after hearing of his obession with the dogs.
Mum Jill had appealed on a pug Facebook fan page asking for pictures of the dogs to cheer her son up on his birthday.
The full time mum said: “He is absolutely obessed with them, they really calm him down and help with his anxiety around other people.
“After I put the post up on Facebook loads of people asked for my address and we got a lot of lovelye gifts.
“A woman also got in touch and invited us to Portsmouth to visit the Pop Up Pug Pub.
“We weren’t sure if I could come because I am not in the best of health but she arranged a hotel for us free of charge.
“When we got to the hotel, there were balloons and a massive pug cushion, it was a lovely weekend out.”
Jill said she is now looking into getting Cody a pug of his own after her landlord decided to bend the rules on pet ownership.
She said: “When the landlord heard about Cody’s autism and the affects the dogs have on him he decided to change his mind.
“I am now in touch with pug rescue people and hoping to sort something out.”
