A mum is furious after her daughter was put into isolation for breaching uniform rules – by having a tiny LOGO on her school shoes.

Julie Savage, 51, says her Erin, 14, was removed from class after objections were raised to the footwear she had worn for the past three years without any problem.

But when the teen attended Penrice Academy in St Austell, Cornwall, at the start of the summer term she was told her £60 pair of Vans flouted its “no logo” policy.

Julie says she would not back down until they let her daughter wear the recently-bought shoes.

The school claimed the shoes are a breach of their “no logo” policy – despite Mrs Savage blacking-out the label with a marker pen.

But Mrs Savage, of St Austell, who owns a drain clearance company, said: “I’m not backing down. The school is being totally unreasonable.

“She got to school and the first week was fine, nothing happened. Then, all of a sudden, her teacher pulled her to one side and said those shoes are unacceptable, you have to get new shoes.

“My daughter said ‘my mother just bought them’.

“When she got home from school I blacked the Vans logo and I did the back as well but when she returned, she was put into isolation.”

Erin was put into isolation for three days – a punishment that sees pupils put in a room by themselves to complete their school work.

According to Mrs Savage, the school has a new headteacher and since then, the school has become “dog-minded” with teachers not even listening to parents over the issue.

Despite the logo on Erin’s shoe no longer being visible, she was still punished.

Mrs Savage added: “I was fuming.

“There is a difference between logo and labels.

“As far as I’m concerned I have fulfilled the criteria.

“I’m not backing down – I’m so pro-smart uniform but when it comes to something like the difference between a logo and label, somebody has to have a brain.

“They are denying her an education.”
