A group of girls had a shock when they asked a taxi driver to take them to a nightclub called Pryzm – but ended up outside a PRISON.
Student Ellie Rogers, 18, and two pals booked a cabbie to take them to the plush club in Birmingham city centre last Thursday (1/9).
But the party-goers were stunned when they realised they were parked up outside HMP Birmingham – where 1,500 men are banged up for their crimes.
After the girls laughed off the mistake, the taxi driver took them on the 25-minute journey from the prison to Pryzm nightclub on Broad Street in Birmingham.

Yesterday, Ellie, who lives in Tipton, West Mids., said: “I hopped on a cab in Tipton at around 10pm for a night out in Birmingham with two friends.
“We wanted to go to Pryzm, but he took us to prison.
“When we realised we’d arrived at Winson Green, I did a double-take.

“We were all shocked. We were like: ‘Oh my God. What have we done?’
“It was so funny. We were all dressed up for night out, sitting outside the prison.
“I turned round to my friend and said: ‘Is he joking?’ But the cab driver didn’t know what to say, he went very quiet.”

Ellie, who works at Costa Coffee, then had another surprise when they realised the taxi driver had kept the meter on for their journey from the prison to the nightclub.
She added: “On the way back, he kept the meter on. We paid £15.
“He charged us extra to take us somewhere we didn’t ask to go.
“Next time I might have to explain where we want to go very carefully.
“I will have to ask the cab driver to take me to Gatecrasher, which is what the club used to be called.”
