A teenager says she has been “scarred for life” after she was left with third degree burns because of a chocolate FACE MASK.
And to add insult to injury, scarred Chantelle Currell was offered just £1 in compensation from Asda where she bought the product.
The 19-year-old used the Chocolate Masque beauty product before going out with her partner last Tuesday, thinking it would get rid of her blackheads and improve her skin.
But within three minutes of applying the Montagne Jeunesse mask, a trusted brand she had used for years, her skin began to burn.
She washed it straight off, but marks had already begun to appear on her skin – and her GP sent her to see a burns specialist the next day.

Chantelle, of Swanscombe, Kent, said: “I went into my bedroom looked at my face, and it was severely burnt.
“At the moment it’s blistered over and the hospital told me I would be scarred for life by it.
“I have bought that face mask since I was young and it’s always been fine.
“Perhaps it’s a dodgy batch or something.”
She said the blisters are causing her great difficulty to eat.
Health care assistant Chantelle said: “My lips were swollen.
“My cheeks have been swollen, I am struggling to eat because of the blisters.
“I went to the doctor’s and he said he can’t believe my face.
“You can’t treat it because it’s a third degree burn. All you can do it put Vaseline on it.
“It’s really painful – and if the blisters pop I have got to go back to A&E because it can cause infection.”

Chantelle says she is embarrassed by the burns, and terrified that she will be marked for life.
She also says people were laughing at her as she sat in A&E.
Chantelle added: “My mum couldn’t believe the state of my face, just from the face mask.
“I was sat in A&E and people were laughing and staring.”
“It’s the whole way around my face. I am going to be scarred for life from those three minutes of having a face mask on.
“My confidence is going to drop. I am a 19-year-old girl. I was embarrassed to go to work from it.”
Chantelle returned to the Asda supermarket in Swanley, Kent where she says she bought the mask around Christmas – and claims she was “humiliated” by a staff member, who offered her a £1 refund in compensation.
She has complained to Asda and Montagne Jeunesse.

A Montagne Jeunesse spokesman said: “We can confirm that a report has been received of an alleged reaction to this product.
“We have taken this report very seriously and are presently in the process of conducting a full investigation.
“We can confirm that this product was safety assessed by our own laboratory and by an independent toxicologist prior to launch and during manufacture, all of whom certified the product to be microbiologically pure.
“We are unable to comment further whilst investigations are ongoing.”
An Asda spokesman said: “We’re currently investigating and will be in touch with Ms Currell as soon as possible.”
