Dave Clarkson, 63, finally decided to pop the question to Muriel, his partner of 20 years, when he found out his bowel cancer was inoperable. Realising they had no time to lose, they tied the knot in the urology ward surrounded by doctors, nurses and close family. Father-of-six Dave, from Easington, County Durham, said: "For years we have been talking about getting married but there always seems to have been a reason to put it off. It was only after being given the diagnosis that I thought we had no time to lose.”
