In May 2022, Bloomcare Rowan Garth began rolling out 5G across its service sites, which have since been configured and tested. Bloomcare’s IT manager, Chris Evans, confirmed that he was delighted with the service, which will deliver fast and reliable connectivity for services such as RADAR software, Wi-Fi and cloud-based services.

Bloomcare’s adoption of 5G opens up possibilities for the leading care service provider to implement new cutting-edge technologies that require increased bandwidth and reduced latency. Indeed, as use of such technology increases across the healthcare sector, stable, secure and speedy connectivity will become essential for service providers.

Bloomcare Rowan Garth will utilise this enhanced connectivity to improve services across the site, integrating Person Centred Software to log residents’ needs, monitor care and formulate care plans, and RADAR software to ensure the highest standards of healthcare quality and compliance.

Wi-Fi is a crucial facility for residents, enabling them to stay in touch with family via emails, messaging services and video calls. 5G will also increase access to cloud-based services at the care village, enabling admin staff to leverage platforms such as CareMaster and Sage.

Delivering a stronger, more reliable connection almost three times faster than the previous network provider, 5G will also facilitate implementation of groundbreaking new technologies such as Vitalerta, an innovation that uses AI to reduce resident falls, and Haptic Shirt, which enables clients to receive hugs from family remotely.

Working in partnership with Liverpool 5G, Bloomcare Rowan Garth hopes this vast increase in connectivity will facilitate the introduction of other innovative, potentially life-changing technologies. Operating from five purpose-built individual buildings, Bloomcare Rowan Garth delivers care to up to 150 clients, with each property providing different types of care including convalescence and respite care, dementia care and palliative care. On of the main missions of Bloomcare is to deliver a warm and friendly living environment for all clients, supporting and assisting them to live as independently as possible.

Bloomcare Rowan Garth is currently working with Liverpool 5G and Mysense AI to introduce individual sensors for clients receiving home care, facilitating remote monitoring to help them remain mobile, independent and living in their own homes for longer

In 2021, Bloomcare was the proud recipient of Lang Buisson’s ‘Best in the Northwest’ award across all of its care homes, with two of its sites achieving perfect 10/10 scores. Bloomcare acknowledged that its staff had worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, taking on new and unexpected challenges but meeting them with the same energy, enthusiasm and dedication.

Over the course of the past 14 years, Bloomcare has strived to deliver essential care to people with mental health issues, supporting clients with conditions like drug and alcohol dependencies, Alzheimer’s disease and those in need of rehabilitation. It is hoped that implementation of 5G at Bloomcare Rowan Garth will pave the way for a new generation of cutting-edge treatments and technologies, further enhancing the quality of life of Bloomcare clients.
