A mum has defended buying so many Christmas presents for her kids you can barely see her 6ft tree – underneath this MOUNTAIN of 230 gifts.

Emma Tapping’s photo of her tree surrounded by an enormous mound of 210 presents for her three kids went viral in 2015 after she posted it on Facebook.

The 37-year-old was slammed by critics who branded her kids “spoiled rotten”.

But she has hit back by spending ever more on Mia, 15, Ella, 11 and Tatun, three, this year – splashing out £2,000 on 230 pressies.

Mum Emma Tapping has defended buying so many Christmas presents for her kids you can barely see her 6ft tree – underneath this MOUNTAIN of 230 gifts.

Only the highest branches of her tree are visible, poking out above a huge mountain of wrapped gifts ready to be opened on Christmas Day.

The pile is even bigger than in 2015 when the photo of her tree went viral.

Emma, from the Isle of Man, who runs a holiday cottage and a cleaning business, said: “Because I start shopping in January I don’t keep a tally on how much I spent, but I think it must be about £2,000.

“I don’t spoil them throughout the year. If they want something they have to do chores and buy it themselves.

“If they break their phones for example, they don’t just get a new one from me.

“They get stuff they need but they don’t get spoiled.

“Christmas has always been a big day for me and I like to carry that on.

“I don’t really care what people think.

“I work and I work hard. I have two jobs. I think to myself ‘it’s my money and they are my kids’.

“If I want to spoil them at Christmas, I’m going to do it and nobody is going to change my mind.

“I don’t care what people think. I’m too busy enjoying myself.

“I love everything about Christmas. I love taking the kids out to see the lights, to see the tree in town and making gingerbread.”

In 2015 she bought 85 presents each for her daughters, and 40 for her son.

The following year she purchased 96 each for the girls and 45 for her son.

This year she has bought 85 each for Mia and Ella, and 60 for Tatun.

She said she doesn’t think her kids would kick up a fuss if she cut back as long as they got what was on their lists.
