A couple got engaged in ASDA – after a boyfriend proposed over the tannoy.
Romantic Itayi Mukonyora, 26, popped the question to his girlfriend of three years Astrolisa Zvovuno in their local branch.
Astrolisa, 24, thought they were going for their usual food shop – when Itayi slipped away and ask her to marry him over the tannoy.
She said: “I am very overwhelmed and surprised. He did throw me off I wasn’t expecting it at all.”
Itayi said: “When we came to the UK, it’s the first shop we went too to do our groceries and because we live close by.
”I thought this is the place she is least likely to suspect anything as it’s the one place we always do our shopping.”
Itayi, who is set to start a masters in psychology, had planned the proposal for four weeks.
A week before it happened he went into the store in Norwich and asked the manager what he was planning to do.
“I told them, I want to propose to my girlfriend she means a lot to me.
”They said ok we will help you – you just let us know when and you can make your announcement.”
He initially planned to record a voice note and play it over the tannoy, but later decided to say whatever came to him at the time.
The couple met through a mutual friend in Cyprus, where Astrolisa was on holiday and Itayi was living at the time.
The traditional wedding is set to take place this September with friends and family present, who are said to be very happy for the couple.
