Paul Anstis and Gloria Anstis picking up their wedding rings at H Samuel in Plymouth. Childhood sweethearts who met at school in Plymouth and were separated for 50 years have travelled the globe to pick up their wedding rings in the city where their story began. Paul Anstis and Gloria - nee Jenkins - left their home in Australia and travelled back to where their romance blossomed 55 years ago to pick up their wedding rings from H Samuel, in New George Street, Plymouth. The lovebirds first met at Plympton Grammar School, now Hele’s School, in 1960 when Paul was 13 and Gloria, who has already legally changed her name to Anstis, was just 12 years old. “It was one of those kinds of moments where you caught sight of each other across the playground,” said Paul, now aged 68.
