A love-struck couple have got engaged just two days after meeting on a singles’ coach trip – thanks to their love of Elvis Presley.
Christine Brimmel, 63, from Dover, was all shook up and could help falling in love after meeting Ron James, 69, on an over-55s coach tour.
Deciding it’s now or never as Ron was always on her mind she proposed after the whirlwind romance and looks set never to be lonesome tonight.
And the fans of The King will no doubt be crying in the chapel after deciding to get hitched in the church at the star’s iconic Memphis home in Graceland.
Christine said: “You don’t expect to meet the love of your life, but it just blossomed. It was love at first sight.
“I asked him to marry me on the Wednesday of the holiday, after we had met on the Monday. It felt so right.”
Christine had previously been on several singles’ holidays with Grand UK but was yet to find love.
But after going on another trip with friends she had met on previous holidays, she met Ron, a widower who lives near Margate.
Christine said: “We are like two peas in a pod – recycled teenagers.
“It’s been wonderful since day one. It was the best holiday ever – my feet have not touched the ground.”
Since romance first blossomed, the couple have booked further excursions together.
Pam Toulson, the tour manager on the Skegness trip, said: “I joked with them that I would have to get a hat to come to the wedding, and wear my Grand UK uniform.”
The couple are planning on moving in together and in the meantime are enjoying lots of shows, such as a Michael Jackson tribute concert and Phantom Of The Opera.
