A Pirates of the Caribbean fan stunned his girlfriend by proposing in front of hundreds of people – while dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Madcap Wayne Truman, 41, swapped walking the plank for the aisle when he popped the question to Sarah Page, 26.
Wayne dressed as the outlandish pirate, played by Johnny Depp, for the Matlock Bath Pirate Mutiny event last Saturday (6/8).

After getting down on one knee to pop the question, Wayne was relieved when Sarah agreed to be his ‘matey’ by saying yes.
Wayne said: “I’d been planning the proposal for a goof few months in advance and I’d bought the rings.
“I organise pirate-themed events, and wanted to make sure the event was definitely going to go ahead.
“I always knew I wanted to propose in a quirky way. I didn’t want anything too cliche; or predictable.

“The event was a real success, there were hundreds of people there.
“We were at the Fishpond pub in Matlock Bath, and there was a PA system so I went up to say thank you to everybody at the end of the day.
“I also thanked Sarah for being my backbone and I asked her to come forward. She was videoing it at the time.
“She came onto the stage and I said, ‘I know I always call you my piratey wife, but you’re not.’
“You could see everyone’s faces drop.
“And then I said to her ‘Until now’ and then I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. You should have seen her face.
“Thankfully she said yes otherwise I would have looked like a right idiot in front of all those people.
“And then I said, ‘I know there is a person who you’d want to be here’ and her mum walked in with the rings.
“She let out the biggest scream you’ve ever heard.
“I told Sarah ‘There is some treasure involved’ because we’re pirates.
“I then proposed properly when I had the rings and she said yes again so I knew she meant it.
“It was the perfect place with everybody around and a sneaky place to have an engagement party after. This is the beginning of a new chapter of our lives.”
The couple met in November at a comic-con event after being introduced by a friend and have been inseparable ever since.
Wayne added: “I was in full character as Jack Sparrow, and Sarah was dressed as Harley Quinn, and I said to her, ‘No, I don’t like you, savvy’.
“She gave me a funny look so I said I was only joking and we had a few photos together and then walked off in opposite directions.
“She was miles out of my league so I didn’t think anything would come of it, but little did I know, she was walking off telling friends she wanted to put me in her pocket and take me home.
“Facebook did something good and we tracked each other down, we chatted, then started phoning and then we met up and she practically moved in with me within a month.
“We have met each other’s families, everybody gets on so well and since then we haven’t had a day apart.”
Sarah, an event organiser, added: “It was pretty much the best day of my life, I was in tears and I don’t cry very easily, I was balling in front of everybody. It made it perfect having my mum there and all of my friends, it was amazing, a dream come true.
“We have a few ideas for the wedding, we’re not normal so it might be piratey. We’re not going to rush it, but it will probably be a bit wacky.”
