The force is strong with this sci-fi mad couple – after they tied the knot with a STAR WARS themed wedding.
Chris Stack, 44, stunned family and friends after he said his vows while dressed as Darth Vader.
Bride Valerie, 44, decided for a more traditional white dress but walked down the aisle to the sound of the Imperial Death March.
The wacky couple were married on Saturday (4/5) – known as Star Wars day due to the play on the catchphrase ‘May the Fourth be With You’.
The pair’s special occasion had a Star Wars theme running throughout, complete with a page boys dressed as C-3P0 and Darth Maul.
Chris and Val tied the knot at the parish church of St Mary Magdalene in Newark, Notts., to the theme tune from the iconic movie franchise.
Even the curate Reverend Chris Lee got in on the act by dressing up as a Jedi Knight for the out of this world ceremony.
Dad-of-one Chris, of Newark, has been a fan of the hit film series since he watched Return of the Jedi when he was six-years-old with his dad.
He said: “I’ve been a massive fan of the films since I was little and it was something that I always wanted to do.
“We thought it would be something a bit different. I think it was a pretty unique wedding and everyone made a real effort.
“There was only one day we were going to do it on- Star Wars day. And I happened to be off work that day too, which was fortunate.
“It was a wonderful day and even the vicar joined in. His name is Chris Lee which was also very fitting as Christopher Lee played Count Dooku in Episode’s II and III.
“I’ve made Val watch all the films and she does enjoy them too. When the final film comes out we can now watch if together as husband and wife.”
The security officer reignited his relationship with Val, a care assistant at a nursing home, through Facebook around four years ago following a school reunion.
He added: “I thought we went out as kids but Val thinks otherwise – but I got there in the end.
“We met at a school reunion in the pub. We’ve known each other since we were 11 and got chatting on Facebook.
“Neither of us were really looking for a relationship but one thing led to another.
“I proposed in our local pub after a day in Skegness, so I thought we’d do something a bit more special for our wedding day.
“Val went to see the residents at the care home in her wedding dress after the ceremony which was lovely.
“I waited in the car outside dressed as Darth Vader while looking forward to a beer.”
Several of their younger family members in the wedding party dressed in Star Wars costumes.
Sienna Rose Cartwright, eight; Taylor Keetley, eight; Mia Keetley-Young, six; and three-year-old Febe Taylor, all dressed up as Princess Leia.
Five-year-old Andrew Wilkins was seen dressed as Darth Maul; Megan Hirst, six, was in a Rey costume, Wyatt Keetley-Young ,seven, was impressively attired as C-3P0 and Leighton Keetley-Young, three, was dressed up as Boba Fett.
All of the couples’ Save the Date cards, invitations and even their cake had a Star Wars theme, with the flowers also being red and black in colour.
Mum-of-four Val said: “It was a brilliant day, we couldn’t have asked for more.
“It’s the happiest day of your life and a big day for everyone so you’ve got to make it fun and enjoy yourself, you’ve got to do it properly.”
For their honeymoon, Chris and Val will be heading off the the Isle of Man for the TT Races at the end of the month.
