A British fishing guide has scored the biggest catch of his life with a SEVEN FOOT halibut - the largest ever of its species to be caught by a Brit. Paul Stevens has been taking keen anglers on trips to Norway six times a year as part of his work as a guide and destination manager for tour agency Sportquest Holidays. See SWNS story SWLNhalibut. A keen fisher himself, he doesn't usually get to fish on his tours, supervising guests instead, but had ventured out with two friends during one recent trip and caught himself a whopper. Reeling in a massive halibut off the coast of Norway on July 6, Paul couldn't believe his eyes when he measured the fish to be over seven foot long. The halibut, thought to be between 70 and 90 years old, weighed a whopping 400lbs - 28.5 stone - and set the record as the largest ever of its species to be caught by a British angler. Proud Paul, 45, who lives in Poringland, South Norfolk, said: "I was absolutely shocked.
