A student who posed for a selfie while holding her new clutchbag has been forced to deny she’s pregnant after people mistook it for a BABY SCAN.
Siobhan Mulvey, 19, decided to take a snap before heading out for a family meal to celebrate her sister’s 30th birthday.
Posing with her silver New Look clutch bag in the air, she took a picture and captioned it ‘Let’s get drunk’ before uploading it to her Snapchat story.
But the reflection from a nearby window caused the silver bag to change colour, prompting her friends to ask if she was announcing her pregnancy while holding up an ultrasound.
Student Siobhann decided to upload the picture to Twitter last year but quickly deleted it after the amount of online abuse she receieved.
She was accused by internet trolls of “faking the pregnancy for attention” and branded irresponsible for deciding to drink while pregnant.
On Sunday the infamous snap reappeared as a memory on her smartphone, prompting her to reupload it with the caption “a year since everyone thought i was holding a baby scan <3”.
But once again Siobhann has been forced to once again deny she’s pregnant to friends and followers, and has received a wealth of messages from people asking how old her baby is and its gender.
Siobhann, from Manchester, said: “I’ve actually chucked the bag out because of all the drama it gave me.
“Me and my family were going out for a bottomless brunch at Dirty Martini for my sister’s 30th.
“I posted it originally just before going out thinking it would just be my friends that saw it.
“I then put it on Twitter because I thought I looked pretty, I have quite a few followers and thought it would be nice.
“Then it just went completely weird.
“When people were thinking it was a baby scan it did make me giggle seeing as I put the caption ‘Let’s get drunk”
“Some people genuinely thought I was announcing my pregnancy.
“Then there were some who thought I took a scan of an empty uterus.
“One person thought it was a picture of a man’s downstairs but I really can’t see that.
“I decided to take it down because it was just getting too weird.
“People kept asking if I thought it was wise to be drinking while holding a scan.
“Then I had some trolls accusing me of attention seeking and faking it for the fun of it.
“The bag was made from this shiny material and obviously I didn’t realise or see it looking like anything else.
“I’ve lost count how many times I’ve had to explain myself especially now it’s gone viral again!
“People have messaged me asking how old my baby is and whether it’s a boy or girl.
“It’s funnier this time round though.
“Someone suggested when I do get pregnant I should announce it like this. That’s a pretty good idea to be honest.
“I only bought for £12 and now it’s brought me all this!”
