An artist was praised for her photo-realistic drawings by singer Lewis Capaldi and England footballer Jordan Pickford – who bought a copy of one for his games room.
Sophie Edwards, 23, was delighted when a highly detailed drawing she did of superstar Capaldi was shared online by the Scots singer.
Capaldi, 24, retweeted Sophie’s life-like picture saying: “This is amazing.”
Mum-of-one Sophie is a full-time artist and works on commissions for family and pet portraits.
But in her spare time she enjoys drawing celebrities, including David Beckham, Eminem, Stormzy, David Attenborough.
In 2018 Sophie recreated a picture of the England men’s national football team after the World Cup – and her handiwork proved popular with goalkeeper Pickford who bought a copy.
The talented artist has also sold a drawing of rapper Tupac for £1,500.
Sophie said: “I love Lewis’ music.
“That was one quite a lot of people said to draw.
“It’s amazing, I love it when I’ve spent that amount of time on a picture and then they acknowledge it, it’s a good feeling.
“I did an England team picture a few years back and Jordan Pickford asked for a print of it for his games room – that was amazing.”
Sophie, from Derby, has been drawing since she was 14 and studied art and design at college.
She uses a fine black pen and white gel pen to create her stunning artwork.
Sophie said: “I’ve been drawing most of my life.
“In school I always loved art.
“I started out doing landscapes and used black and white pencils, but when I was 14 I started using coloured pencils and doing portraits.
“The past couple of years I’ve been doing commissions and drawings of famous people.
“A lot of them are kids and family portraits, and I get quite a lot of pet drawings, like dogs.
“I choose to do celebrity portraits in my own time.
“If there’s something popular in the news I’ll do a picture or if people request things.
“I’ve done two Only Fools and Horses pictures, one with the whole cast.
“I’ve also done Stormzy, David Beckham and Gordon Ramsay.
“I did a Paul Walker drawing a few years ago and I almost gave up with it, but it turned out to be one of the best I’ve done.
“I don’t know which one’s my favourite, maybe my David Beckham one.”
Sophie draws on A3 and A4 Bristol board paper and it takes around a week for her to complete her detailed drawings.
She has more than 26,000 followers on Twitter but dreams of one day exhibiting her work in galleries.
Sophie added: “Right now it’s just social media.
“At one time I’d like my work up in galleries.”
