How to fix Your Teeth at Home

Smiling is one of the simplest ways to communicate with another person without having to use any words. For those with a perfect set of teeth, smiling is easy as it enhances their appearance and helps them to connect with others freely. It is essential to take care of your teeth by brushing them every day and visiting a dentist at least once a year. In most cases, you will maintain that smile and enjoy good oral health for many years.

However, not everyone has good looking teeth resulting in their inability to smile freely in public. In such cases, it is essential to identify the problem and seek solutions to rectify it as soon as possible. Some of the teeth problems that are common in both males and females include:

Bad mouth odor

Mouth odor is an embarrassing problem that often emanates from decaying teeth. The disease which is known as Halitosis makes it hard for an individual to interact comfortably with others because of the odor. In some cases, the smell can be slight, but over time it becomes much stronger and easy to detect as soon as one opens their mouth.

Decaying teeth

Tooth decay is often caused by regular eating of sugary food which combines with plaque often found on the teeth. The combination begins to burrow through the teeth results in a cavity that is painful when it comes into contact with items put in the mouth. Most times, cleaning of the teeth and gums will bring relief, but if the problem persists over time, you might need to visit a dentist.

Discolored teeth

Teeth can become dull when exposed to substances such as nicotine, colored drinks, medications and, certain fruits. In some cases, the loss of the white color may be due to rotten teeth that affects the enamel as well. In cases, where the discoloration is noticeable it becomes hard to smile because one feels conscious of their teeth resulting in a half smile or no smile at all.

Gum disease

Problems with teeth often affect the gums leaving them swollen and painful. In such cases, the teeth become sensitive and weak making it quite hard to eat. Most times, the disease is caused by a lack of regular brushing and flossing of teeth as required.

Home remedies for problematic teeth

It is recommended to seek help when facing problems with your teeth to ensure that they are fixed as soon as possible. Even so, there are some problems with the teeth that can be treated using home remedies. Some of these remedies include:

  • Teeth whitening

Whitening of teeth can be done using natural products within the comfort of your home. You can choose from many options depending on the severity of your teeth problems. Some of the ways to whiten discolored teeth include using pastes with natural ingredients such as baking soda, sea salt, and even turmeric powder. Other whitening solutions involve using a charcoal brush, coconut oil pulling and teeth whitening pens which are known to be effective. Some teeth whitening pen reviews give you a chance to sample the options available and the expected changes after using them.

  • Gargle salt water

Gargling salt water is one of the most common yet effective ways to fix cavities in the teeth. The salty water balances out the acid produced by the hole thus reducing any pain in the tooth. Also, the salt solution keeps the mouth free from bacteria which causes more cavities. Other solutions to cavities include placing cloves on the affected area to get some pain relief. However, if the discomfort persists, it is advisable to see a dentist for a possible root canal.

  • Use anti-bacterial mouthwash

Swollen gums can be treated at home using a mouthwash that has anti-bacterial properties. The mouthwash dissolves any food particles and eradicates bacteria that may be hiding in crooked teeth of gums, fillings, crowns or dentures that cause the gums to swell. Also, brushing of teeth on a daily basis using a suitable brush eliminates the probability of bacteria building up and affecting your teeth.

  • Use of cold compress

Severe pain in the tooth is a common problem that can be taken care off within the home. In most cases, placing a cold compress on the area relieves the pain and allows you to function normally. The icepack mainly consists of crushed ice cubes from your refrigerator placed in a piece of cloth, and you are ready to go. To experience maximum relief, consider refilling the compress with new ice cubes at different intervals throughout the day.

  • Application of turmeric and black pepper paste

Having a loose tooth can make one feel uneasy especially if it does not want to come off on its own. To strengthen the tooth, rub the powder mixture on the gums on every day until there is a significant change in the teeth. The powder mixture is easy to make at home and can be made in advance and stored for future use. However, it is advisable to avoid eating or drinking for at least thirty minutes for the powder mixture to take effect on the gums.

  • Eat calcium-rich foods or supplements

It is essential to keep your teeth strong regardless of your age so that they do not become problematic in the future. Calcium plays a significant role in the development of jaw bones which hold the teeth in place. It is important to have a menu that consists of calcium-rich foods to enable your teeth and gums to remain healthy at all times.

Overall, taking care of your teeth is an integral part of everyday life that should not be ignored by people of all ages. Take time when brushing, flossing and cleaning of the teeth to ensure that they are always in good condition. In case of a problem with your teeth, find a way to fix it at home or seek professional advice from an oral hygiene expert.
